Here’s a simple morning routine tailored to your dosha in Ayurveda – Vata, Pitta, or Kapha. Each routine brings balance by countering the dosha’s natural tendencies and restoring harmony.

VATA (Air + Ether)

Tends to: Dryness, cold, restlessness, anxiety, irregular digestion

Needs: Warmth, stability, grounding, nourishment.

Ideal Wake Time: 6:00–6:30 AM (avoid rushing)

Routine:

  1. Wake Slowly – Gentle transitions help calm the mind.
  2. Warm Sesame Oil Abhyanga (self-massage) – Grounding and moisturizing.
  3. Warm Shower or Bath – Retains internal heat.
  4. Tongue Scraping + Nasya (oil in nose) – Clears mind and prevents dryness.

  6. Meditation / Slow Pranayama (e.g., alternate nostril breathing).
  7. Breakfast: Warm, cooked food like oats with ghee, cinnamon, and stewed apples.

Best Tea: Ginger or cinnamon tea

PITTA (Fire + Water)

Tends to: Heat, sharpness, irritability, inflammation


Needs: Cooling, flow, calm, patience

Ideal Wake Time: 5:30–6:00 AM (before the heat of the day)

Routine:

  1. Wake Calmly – Allow natural light to fill your space.
  2. Coconut Oil Abhyanga – Cooling and calming for the skin and liver.
  3. Cool Shower – Reduces inner heat.
  4. Tongue Scraping + Rose Water Eye Rinse – Soothing.
  5. Drink Room Temp Water with aloe juice or mint.
  6. Meditation / Cooling Breathwork – Sheetali pranayama is ideal.
  7. Breakfast: Sweet, cool foods like soaked chia with dates and coconut milk.
  8. Gentle Yoga like yin or slow flow.

Best Herbs: Amla, Brahmi, Guduchi

Best Tea: Mint, rose, or fennel tea

Avoid: Coffee, spicy food, competition early in the day.

KAPHA (Earth + Water)

Tends to: Heaviness, sluggishness, attachment, slow digestion

Needs: Stimulation, lightness, movement, warmth

Ideal Wake Time: 4:30–5:30 AM (before sluggishness sets in)

Routine:

  1. Wake Early + Energize – Splash cold water on face.
  2. Dry Brushing or Mustard Oil Massage – Stimulates circulation.
  3. Invigorating Shower – Warm with essential oils like eucalyptus.
  4. Tongue Scraping + Nasya (oiling nasal passages) – Clears excess mucus.
  5. Drink Warm Water with Lemon & Honey – Boosts metabolism.
  6. Energizing Breathwork – Kapalabhati (shining skull) or Bhastrika.
  7. Breakfast: Light & spicy—millet porridge, fruit with cinnamon and clove.
  8. Dynamic Exercise – Brisk walk, sun salutations, or cardio.
