Pain Management with Natural Herbs

Pain Management with Natural Herbs, according to Ayurveda, pain is often associated with an aggravated Vata dosha, which is responsible for bodily movement and circulation.

Pain can develop in two main ways when Vata is aggravated:

1. Pain caused by depletion: This occurs when there is a lack of nutrients supplied to the tissues. Common causes include weak appetite and digestion, excessive exercise or work, trauma, or injury. Pain resulting from depletion is typically described as sharp, radiating, and tends to move rather than staying in one fixed location.

2. Pain caused by obstruction: This type of pain results from blocked circulation around the affected area. Causes often involve excess or improper eating habits, lack of exercise, and the accumulation of ama (toxic buildup). Pain due to obstruction is usually characterised by inflammation, swelling, and stiffness.

Ayurvedic management protocols for chronic pain aim to address the root cause of the pain, whether it stems from depletion or obstruction, through various therapies like diet, lifestyle adjustments, massage, and specific herbal treatments.

On one of our many expeditions through India, we met with a pharmacist along with an emits professor of Ayurveda. Our mission was to seek the wisdom from ancient India and discover the most effective remedy for pain. To our surprise Dr Jai Prakash Dahiya presented us with a confidential formula, which over the past ten years has received such praise and helped so many of you within our Ayurvedic community.

Simply by word of mouth it has become a standout herbal formula in our Ayurvedic apothecary. Dr Prakash later introduce us to Frankinsence as a support herb, mentioning that the combination of these two powerful anti inflammatories work together providing a broad-spectrum action. He further said that because herbs are natural, they need combination to increase potency in some cases.
