The Vilwadi Lehyam story – early 2000 JayD met with Dr P.A Ravindran who was giving a lecture to Ayurvedic physicians at the Rajah Ayurvedic Hospitals. Dr P.A Ravindran was the student of Pandit Warier and whose father, brothers, grandfather and great grandfather, were all Ayurvedic doctors. How it Works – The sugar which is in part fructose bypasses the pancreas and arrives directly at the liver cells. Thus the natural phyto-chemicals in the preparation enter immediately deep into the liver, to begin their cleansing function. Ingredients: Vilwa – Aegle marmelos – 1.5kg is added with 12 liters of water, boiled and reduced to 3 liters, then filtered. To this Kashayam, 768 grams of one year old jaggery is added and heated to semi solid consistency. It is added with 12g of each of the following –
Cyperus rotundus, Coriander, Cumin, Caraway, Cardamom, Cinnamon, Mesua ferrea, Trikatu – Pepper, Long Pepper and Ginger.
